Dal reports a water leak Dal comes running up the stairs to report that there's a patch of water on the ground floor. ![]() There's no doubt about it, the pipe leading from the tank on the roof must have sprung a leak. And since there's no more dripping, the tank must now be empty. ![]() When Jack takes a look, the tank is indeed empty. ![]() Water had already been rationed before the leak. When the girls come to collect their ration, Ryan hands over one bottle - to be shared between all of them. He explains that the tank is now empty. When the girls complain to Lex, he suggests they might go fetch more water from the nearby stream, and he would provide boys to protect them. The girls realize this would be perpetuating the "sexist division of chores" and tell Lex to forget it. It's obvious that Lex is using the water shortage to break the girls' rebellion. Ryan tells him straight that he won't allow the girls to die of thirst. |
