![]() Newcomer and Stranger Sasha approaches the Nomad camp in style. We soon learn that he makes his way through life as an artist, juggler, musician, and all-round entertainer. Asked how he found the Nomads, he admits it was the smell of breakfast. ![]() Sasha soon gets talking with Dal, who tells him all about Trudy and that he misses her. Sasha has a gift for asking the right questions, and Dal comes to realize he must follow his heart, go back to the City to be with Trudy. ![]() But when he says good-bye to Troy and Susannah, thanking them for their warm hospitality, they become menacing, and refuse to let him leave. ![]() Dal finds himself chained to a tent pole, a prisoner of the Nomads, and no reason given. ![]() When Sasha asks about Dal, Troy lies that they caught him stealing. Sasha doesn't believe them and comes back later to try and rescue him. But he's caught too and is chained up with Dal. ![]() Sasha and Dal come to the grim conclusion that the Nomads must be cannibals, so when they are brought food (to fatten them up?) they decide not to eat it. ![]() When Troy returns later and inquires about their appetites, he reveals that in fact the Nomads are slave traders. Sasha and Dal are to be sold as slaves at the Tribal Gathering. |
